With the effective use of social media, retailers have the power to build brand awareness, customer loyalty and - most importantly - trust with shoppers, and those ultimately lead to increases in in-store sales.

In the online era, many retailers have their social media profiles set, but not all of them are using them effectively. It’s about time retailers start seeing the true value of social media, especially when considering 74 percent of shoppers use social media to guide their purchasing decisions.

Social media is here to stay and will continue to bridge the gap between the online and offline word. But, there is no point of having an amazing social media presence if it’s going to lead to shoppers being disappointed by a less than ideal in-store experience. It really is about creating a cohesive social media and in-store experience, and being ruthlessly consistent throughout both.
