Is the online king coming to the physical world?

A year after rumors initially surfaced, there continue to be reports that Google plans to open its own physical retail stores.  The general sense is that as Google continues to look more and more Apple-like, the success of Apple's standalone stores is a good model.  Physical stores might make great showrooms for Chromebooks, Google glasses, Android phones, and Google TV.  And as CrunchFund's MG Siegler points out, they can put a self-driving car in there, too.

Of course, it will be interesting to see how the operator of the world's most popular online analytics application approaches measuring its own physical stores.  My guess is they'll want to know everything that's going on inside those walls.
