About the role
RetailNext is looking for an all-star Mid-Market Account Director to join our Sales team, focused on selling to Small to Medium Business (SMB) retailers. You'll work alongside Enterprise Account Directors and the broader RetailNext team to grow existing SMB accounts, win new customers, and hit quarterly sales targets at strong margins.
The right fit has a strong work ethic, takes coaching well, and turns feedback into action fast. You're a self-starter who drives revenue and builds the client base without being told twice, and you can evangelize the RetailNext platform with real conviction. You stay motivated through the full sales cycle, from first cold call to signed contract.

What You'll Do
New Business Prospecting
- Make a high volume of outbound calls to warm and cold prospects
- Pursue new SMB clients through LinkedIn, email, phone, and company website outreach
- Build and manage a healthy pipeline of SMB retail prospects
- Qualify leads and prioritize the accounts most likely to close
Full-Cycle Selling
- Take prospects from first cold call all the way to a signed contract or PO
- Clearly articulate RetailNext's premium services to spark interest and move conversations forward
- Demo the RetailNext solution tailored to each retailer's specific needs
- Listen closely to what retailers actually need and connect it back to RetailNext's value
- Handle objections skillfully and keep deals moving toward yes
- Follow up consistently to push deals across the finish line
Account Growth
- Work with existing SMB clients to expand their use of the RetailNext platform
- Partner with Enterprise Account Directors to share best practices and support account handoffs
- Spot upsell and cross-sell opportunities within the current client base
Sales Execution & Development
- Consistently meet or exceed quarterly sales quotas at the right gross margin
- Track and manage pipeline accurately in the CRM
- Stay open to coaching and put feedback into practice quickly
- Bring energy and focus to a fast-growing, startup-like sales environment
What We're Looking For
Required
- Bachelor's degree
- 1-2 years of inside sales experience
- Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding sales goals
- Strong work ethic and a self-starter mindset
- Comfortable making a high volume of outbound calls
Valued but Not Required
- Software sales experience
- Past closing experience
- Experience selling into retail
- CRM experience, Salesforce preferred
- Understanding of data analytics
