Fresh off last week’s #NRF17, it’s clear that some of the coolest, trendiest IoT-powered smart store conversations in the coming year will center around Amazon Go, machine learning and deep learning, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR).
As my colleague Be’Anka Ashaolu wrote last summer, augmented reality in retail is here to stay. Not only does the technology offer up a more experiential shopping journey for mobile and other digital shoppers, it also directly addresses some of the biggest friction points for retailers themselves, particularly return rates of around 30 percent for online purchases.
