Holiday is the biggest season for most retailers, and e-commerce delivers a bigger portion of sales every year. The downside is that returns from digital channels continue to be problematic for retailers and shoppers alike.

Despite the fact that Halloween is still more than a week away, the Holiday shopping season has already begun. It’s true! SessionM reports in a recently distributed survey that fully 26 percent of Americans have already started their Holiday shopping.

RetailNext forecasted a modest growth rate for retailers this Holiday season, expecting a 2.8 percent lift year over year for November and December, led in great part by continued growth in digital channels.

But, the growth of digital sales also portends the dark side of the digital channel – returns. Returns are a giant – and expensive – problem for the retail industry, and the below infographic from Shorr Packaging Corp. cast a bright spotlight on one of retail’s biggest opportunities.
