Job Summary:

The Revenue Accountant is responsible for managing the full cycle of global revenue and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) accounting in accordance with ASC 606. This role includes performing revenue processes, reconciliations, reporting, and supporting audits for both international and US entities. The Revenue Accountant ensures accurate billing, revenue recognition, and accounts receivable (AR) management, including accrued revenue, AR allowance, and proper application of payments. This role will collaborate with Sales Operations, AR Global Team, Legal, and Systems Groups to resolve revenue, COGS, and sales tax issues. The Revenue Accountant requires a solid understanding of ASC 606 and GAAP accounting principles and will report to the Director, Global Controller.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare billing validations and execute revenue recognition for month-end close, including reconciling billing invoices and uploading revenue data into NetSuite.
  • Prepare and reconcile deferred revenue schedules, sales journals, and sales tax.
  • Review accounts receivable (AR) subledger to ensure no credit balances remain in customer accounts.
  • Review cash payments posted by the Collection team to ensure accurate application to customer accounts.
  • Ensure correct revenue and deferred revenue treatment by reviewing AR and revenue journal entries.
  • Perform Standalone Selling Price (SSP) analysis and maintain processes for ongoing compliance.
  • Provide revenue accounting guidance on significant transactions that impact financial reporting.
  • Assist with reviewing customer contracts, including MSAs, ASQs, and POs, to ensure compliance with revenue recognition standards.
  • Reconcile commissions and bonuses, coordinating with Operations and HR teams.
  • Review Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) and Power BI data at the customer store level and explain churn trends.
  • Collaborate with the AR Team to resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Address sales tax issues and liaise with the State Sales Tax Department to resolve discrepancies in tax software for filing.
  • Work cross-functionally with AR Global Team, Sales, Operations, Support, Logistics, Legal, and HR to ensure revenue and COGS-related tasks are completed accurately.
  • Support the analysis and recording of stock-based compensation expenses (SBC) and equity-related transactions.
  • Assist in preparing equity rollforwards.
  • Support annual financial audits and tax provisions for both international and US entities.
  • Assist in sales tax audits and federal/state tax filings.
  • Execute key control activities related to revenue and COGS accounting.
  • Participate in special projects assigned by management to streamline Finance & Accounting processes.
  • Prepare revenue and COGS accounting memos as needed.

Required skills:

  • Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization.
  • Experience in resolving tax-related issues with US state departments.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines independently.
  • Solid understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ASC 606.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems such as MS Excel, Salesforce, NetSuite, Power BI, Carta, and Avalara.
  • Strong analytical skills for account analysis and reconciliations.
  • Ability to manage revenue, COGS, commission, and AR subledger reviews independently.
  • Familiarity with foreign exchange currency and currency translation.
